Zero Waste Urban Parks
Zero Waste Urban Parks
Litter is a big problem all over Europe, also in green spaces. Different countries deploy varying amounts of resources and energy in order to tackle the problem, but we still have a lot to do. With a partnership from four European countries, we want to make our parks litter-free. Our dream? Not only reducing waste but also eliminating it by encouraging sustainable practices.
Project Goals
By implementing this project, we want to increase the competencies of the partner organizations and employees of the parks in how to enable behavioral change and increase the awareness of the visitors. To do so, we will create a handbook with ideas and good practices on how to manage litter in parks.
Implementation
We will host four international trainings for project partners and organize local events in each country. We will also visit different parks and analyze and improve their litter management. Together, we will write a handbook called ‘ZERO WASTE URBAN PARKS’ for park managers of other European green spaces to improve their waste management and make the parks more sustainable.
Expected Results
The project will turn the partner organizations into successful experts in zero-waste urban green spaces. They will be able to teach others and be ambassadors in their international and national networks. We aspire for cleaner European parks and cities!
Target Groups:
- Employees of the park: who have daily contact with the users of the Park and can contribute as litter experts;
- Park volunteers: who will act as ambassadors of the project;
- Staff from the NGO´s: who participate in the implementation of the project;
- All users of the green spaces;
- Other European Parks who wish to implement the zero waste project in their municipality;
- Other European Organisations dealing with environmental issues and/or adult education.
